Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how TableGenie, Inc. ("TableGenie," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the TableGenie mobile application (the "App"), our website at tablegenie.com (the "Site"), and related features and services (together, the "Services").
TableGenie helps you discover restaurants, make reservations, arrange home catering and events, visualize dishes in 3D and augmented reality (AR), order together at a shared table by scanning a QR code, and interact with an AI voice concierge called "Genie." Because several of these features rely on your device's sensors and on third-party providers, we want to be clear about what we collect and why.
If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Services.
Summary of key points
- No account or password. You use the App as an anonymous, device-based user. We do not require you to create a login. We identify your device with a random identifier so we can keep track of your reservations and orders.
- We collect what a booking needs. To make a reservation we collect the name, email address, and (optionally) phone number you enter, along with your party size, date, selected dishes, and any notes you add.
- Payments are secure. Card and mobile-wallet details are collected and processed by a third-party, PCI-compliant payment processor. We never receive or store your full card number.
- Voice & AI. When you talk to Genie, your microphone audio and conversation are streamed to third-party voice and AI providers to understand you and respond. See "Voice and AI features."
- Device permissions. We ask for camera (QR scanning and AR), microphone (Genie), location (nearby restaurants), calendar (adding a reservation), and notifications (reminders) only when you use those features. You can revoke them any time in your device settings.
- Sharing with other diners. If you join a shared table or a shared reservation, the display name you choose and the items you add are visible to the other people at that table or on that reservation.
- No advertising trackers. Our website does not use advertising cookies or analytics trackers, and the App does not use advertising identifiers. We use limited diagnostics to keep the Services working.
- Your controls. You can revoke device permissions, and you can contact us at [email protected] to access or delete your information.

1. What information we collect
Information you provide
- Reservation and order details: the name, email address, and (optional) phone number you enter to make a reservation or event/catering request; your party size, requested date and time, the restaurant or venue, the dishes and services you select, and any free-text notes or comments you add to an order.
- Display name: a name you choose (up to 40 characters) that is used to personalize the App, to identify you to other people on a shared table or reservation, and that you may also speak to Genie.
- Voice input: the audio and content of what you say when you use the Genie voice concierge (see Section 5).
- Payment information: card or mobile-wallet details you enter to pay a deposit or settle a table. This is collected directly by our third-party payment processor — see Section 4.
- Website form submissions: if you contact us, request a demo or partnership, or join the waitlist on our Site, we collect the information in that form (such as your name, email or work email, business name, and message).
Information collected automatically
- Device identifier: when you first use the App, our server issues a random, anonymous user identifier and access token for your device so we can associate your reservations and orders with you. There is no username or password.
- Device and app information: your platform (iOS or Android), operating-system version, app version, device time zone, and locale/language.
- Approximate and precise location: with your permission, your device's GPS coordinates and a reverse-geocoded area/city label, used to show and sort nearby restaurants (see Section 2).
- Diagnostics and technical logs: when you use the Services, our servers and error-monitoring tools automatically process technical information such as your IP address, device/browser type, and error and performance data to keep the Services reliable and secure.
- On-device storage: the App stores information locally on your device (for example your display name, favorites, an in-progress booking, a local cart, your location, and a cache of recently viewed data) so the App works quickly and offline. This stays on your device unless you take an action that sends it to us.
2. Device permissions we use
The App requests the following permissions only when you use a feature that needs them, and you can change or revoke them at any time in your device settings. Denying a permission simply disables that feature.
| Permission | Why we use it |
|---|---|
| Camera | To scan the QR code at your table to join a live shared table, and to preview dishes in augmented reality. AR processing happens on your device. |
| Microphone | To let you talk to the Genie voice concierge. Audio is only captured during an active voice session that you start. |
| Location (while using the app) | To show restaurants near you and sort them by distance. We use foreground location only; we do not track your location in the background. |
| Calendar | To add a confirmed reservation to your device calendar, if you choose to. |
| Notifications | To send optional reminders about a reservation you started or booked. This is opt-in. |
3. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- create, confirm, modify, and fulfill your reservations, catering/event requests, and orders;
- process payments, deposits, tips, refunds, and shared-table settlement;
- operate live shared tables and shared reservations, including showing your name and selections to the others at your table;
- power the Genie voice concierge and its ability to find restaurants and dishes and to start or edit reservations on your request;
- show you nearby restaurants and personalize the App (for example, greeting you by name and remembering favorites);
- send you transactional communications, such as reservation confirmation emails and, if enabled, reminders;
- respond to your inquiries and demo, partnership, or waitlist requests;
- maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Services, prevent abuse and fraud, and diagnose problems; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. Payments
Payments in the App — the reservation deposit and live shared-table checkout — are processed by a third-party, PCI-compliant payment processor. Your payment method details (card number, expiry, security code, or mobile-wallet token) are collected and handled directly by that processor through its own secure payment interface. We do not receive or store your full card details. We store only non-sensitive payment references, such as a payment identifier and the amounts (subtotal, deposit, tip, and any refund).
To complete a reservation deposit, we provide the payment processor with the details needed to process and receipt the charge — which may include the email and phone you entered, your party size and reservation date, the dishes ordered, and your anonymous user identifier. Funds are routed through the processor to the applicable restaurant's connected account, minus our platform fee. The payment processor handles this information under its own privacy policy.
5. Voice and AI features (Genie)
"Genie" is an optional AI voice concierge. You start a session by tapping the Genie control; it is never listening otherwise. When you use Genie:
- your microphone audio and the resulting conversation (what you say and Genie's replies) are streamed off your device to our voice-AI providers to convert speech to text, generate a response, and speak back;
- we also send limited context to help Genie assist you: your display name, a coarse location label (your area/city — not your precise GPS coordinates), your device time zone, the current date and time, and your anonymous user identifier; and
- when you ask Genie to do something (for example, look up your reservations or add an item), the relevant details of that request and its result (such as your reservation history or cart contents) are shared with the AI so it can act.
These features are provided using third-party voice-processing and artificial-intelligence providers that convert your speech to text, generate Genie's responses, and carry the audio in real time. Your voice interactions are processed and may be retained by these providers under their own privacy policies. Within the App, the on-screen transcript is temporary and is cleared when a session ends.
6. Sharing with other people
Some features are collaborative, which means information you provide becomes visible to other people you dine or book with:
- Live shared tables. When you scan a table's QR code and join a shared table, your chosen display name and the dishes and comments you add — and your share of the bill and tip — are visible to the other approved people at that table. The first person to scan a table becomes the host and approves who else may join.
- Shared reservations. When you share or open a reservation link, the reservation preview (restaurant, date, time, and party size) is visible to anyone with the link, and people who join can see and edit the shared reservation and see the display names and selections of others on it.
- Public dish-share pages. The Site can display a shareable page for a restaurant's menu item (its name, description, category, price, and photo). These pages contain restaurant catalog information only — not your personal information.
We also share your information as follows:
- With restaurants and venues so they can prepare and fulfill your reservation, order, or event.
- With our service providers (see Section 7) who process information on our behalf.
- For legal reasons — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety, and property of TableGenie, our users, or others.
- In a business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. Service providers we work with
We use a limited number of third-party service providers that process information on our behalf, only as needed to run the Services and only for the purposes described in this Policy. Each is contractually required to protect the information and to use it solely to provide its service to us. These providers fall into the following categories:
- Payment processing — to securely process card and mobile-wallet payments, issue refunds, and route payouts to restaurants. This provider, not TableGenie, handles your card details.
- Voice and AI processing — to power the Genie voice concierge by converting your speech to text, generating responses, and transmitting audio in real time (see Section 5).
- Email delivery — to send reservation confirmations and respond to your inquiries.
- Cloud hosting, database, and content delivery — to store data and to deliver the App, the Site, images, and 3D/AR models.
- Error monitoring and diagnostics — to detect, diagnose, and fix problems and keep the Services secure.
- App platforms and device services — the mobile platforms through which the App is distributed and which provide payment, push-notification, mapping, and augmented-reality functionality.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. If you would like more detail about the specific providers we use, contact us at [email protected].
8. Cookies and tracking
Our Site does not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or third-party marketing pixels, and the App does not use advertising identifiers or ad-tracking. We do use:
- Local device storage in the App (not browser cookies) to remember your preferences, favorites, in-progress booking, and a cache of recently viewed data; and
- Essential technical logging and error monitoring to keep the Services secure and working.
Because we do not use tracking technologies to monitor you across sites, we do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
9. International data transfers
We and our service providers are located primarily in the United States, and several of our providers host data in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain records of your reservations and transactions, comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When we no longer need information, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it. Information held by our payment, email, and infrastructure providers is retained according to their policies. You can ask us to delete your information as described in Section 13.
11. How we protect information
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encrypted connections to our servers and reputable, security-conscious providers (for example, a PCI-compliant payment processor for payments). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your device secure, since your reservations and orders are tied to your device.
12. Children's privacy
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
13. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because the App has no login, most of your on-device information can be cleared by deleting the App or clearing its data. To make a request about information we hold on our servers — including access or deletion — email us at [email protected]. We will respond as required by applicable law and may need to verify your request. You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
You can also control key data flows directly:
- revoke camera, microphone, location, calendar, or notification permissions in your device settings;
- choose not to use the Genie voice concierge;
- edit your display name before joining a shared table or reservation; and
- clear the App's local data by deleting the App.
14. Region-specific rights
United States (including California)
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly collect the personal information of minors under 16. California and other US state residents may have rights to know, access, correct, and delete personal information and to be free from discrimination for exercising them. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].
European Economic Area and United Kingdom
If you are in the EEA or UK, we process your personal information on the legal bases of performing our contract with you (to provide reservations, orders, and features you request), your consent (for example, device permissions and voice features), our legitimate interests (to secure, improve, and operate the Services), and compliance with legal obligations. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Contact us at [email protected] to exercise these rights.
15. Updates to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
